I’ve been proud of all of the Sitting Room Library’s
annual anthologies thus far (except for the one on humor
which was so Unfunny), but this 2026 prompt has elicited
material that fed me where I was hungry.
Talk about blind dates! I am in love with so many of these
women whom I never knew before. What a boon to be
introduced to them, brought out of the shadows, thanks to
the research and to the family histories! We know their
names now and much more besides.
I am especially glad that these uncovered, recovered,
discovered women are being honored in the new format of
the anthology – designed by Iris Dunkle and printed by
our longtime partner in this enterprise, Deependra Rai at
Clone, a woman-owned business in Santa Rosa (and this is
a thanks to them and yes, a plug).
While you will find a variety of genres and styles in this
book, each of the pieces is permeated with the sweet
flavor of gratitude. You’ll taste it…
Whether reading this collection online or in print format, it
is a collectors’ item.
